Confucius

Although walking up the stairs at longevity hill at the Summer Palace might have increased our life expectancy a little, today we chose a less strenuous program and visited the hutongs and the Confucius temple.

I hoped to learn a bit more about confucius today. But it made me realise again that my understanding of Chinese culture barely scratches the surface of what it all encompasses.

Confucius is compared to the greek philosophers. If this man never existed, China would not be the China it is today.

The atmoshpere was quite serene compared to the husstle and bustle outside of the temple grounds.
